why....

is it so hard to mop the floor? is it because i know that within minutes it will be dirty again? i want a clean house i really do, but i sometimes feel NO motivation. i have a constant running list in my head...cleaning, rearranging, painting. then i have the reality of life, i have 5 kids! and i homeschool! what did you say? they need to be able to read? write? add and subtract? does watching animal planet and the discovery channel count? okay, any family members who might read this....get a grip...i'm just KIDDING! (maybe) my friend sonya has an amazing house. it's SO sparse. and clean. and i think it's clean because it's so sparse. i love that. i'm TRYING to let go of a few things. i'm tired of CLUTTER!

we are painting the exterior of our house this weekend. the shutters and garage door. we're digging holes for trees. our front yard is BARE. we feel like fish out of water in this neighborhood, but we can't really go anywhere else right now. SO, i want to embrace my house. i think if i clean it up and fix it up i'll love it more. i do have to be thankful that my kids can run around and be safe. there are TONS of kids around. the boy next door is here more than home. there are about 5 little girls just on our street and cora has about 3 friends on the street one over. SO the kids have a great little community and for that i am thankful. my closest friend on the street is my 70 year old neighbor. she's really great and i think if she were my age we'd be even better buddies. it's really cool to me to find older people who are hip and not at all conservative.

my two year old son just asked me to put a ponytail in his hair. he's running around in a white princess dress and wants to dance for me. huh. now that's an education...

Hey, my old favorite neighbor was in her 80's (maybe 90's!).

She was so cool! She cussed like a sailor and was very sweet. She'd share her cherry tomatos with Morella and Myleigh. She had an amazing spark.

Her son (a minister) finally moved her into a crappy nursing home and sold her house. He was a jerk. He was one of the people who talked about our neighborhood like it was a ghetto (that he managed to escape- la de da).

Odd that the non-Christian cussing old woman had a better heart than the minister. Ok, well, not so odd.

I found out later (from her jerk son) that she was orphaned at age 4and lived in an orphanage until she was 15 and ran away from it. I think that is why she was always so fond of Myleigh and why she was a hoarder (she kept money in her walls).

Old people are amazing. I miss her!

I just don't know why you didn't mention how clean my house is. I am certain that it was simply an oversight.
