ouch

cora (8) who recently went rollerskating with a friend (lexi) informed me today "did you know that REALLY OLD ladies, like YOU and BONNIE (lexi's mom) can get skates with extra wheels on 'em?"
"uh, thanks dear, i'll remember that next time i go......."

a little lift

a friend gave me, for my 40th, some fabulous skin care products. one is called transforming lift gel. i've been using it on my starting to wrinkle face and i swear....in about two weeks of use... my wrinkles seem less and the skin on my face seems less jiggly and saggy. i'm thinkin of buying up a big supply for those other areas on my body. say for those two objects on my chest......

can't really think

of a whole lot to say. but i'm sure if i start typing i'll have no problem......

i can't imagine not having much to say. i've always been a yacker. mom says my brother was so quiet because he had me to speak for him. i try to be aware of the glazed over look from my victims...warning me to STOP TALKING, but sometimes i go on and on and on completely unaware. when i hear of married couples who rarely talk, i am saddened. my poor introverted husband will never lack for conversation in this marriage. if he's not around, i'll happily talk to myself. my children can be very conversational as well.....get one of them alone and you'll find out everything there is to find out about us...good and bad. they also like to ask lots of questions. LOTS of questions. but as my eldest said..."how am i 'spose to find out anything if i don't ask?".

speaking of my eldest...he was skating the other day in a public space with a buddy. they were taking a break from basketball practice. a gentleman came out of the business (sports plus) and asked where they went to school. my son replied "we're homeschooled". the man " well, can you read?" my son, "uhhh, yeah" the man, " did you read the sign that says no skateboarding?" my son, "uhhh, yeah" the man, "you could get hurt and sue me" my son, "we wouldn't sue you" the man, "well, you could hurt someone else and they could sue me" my son, " do you see anyone else around?" the man mutters and walks back inside.

what to do. rules are sometimes stupid. must we ALWAYS follow the rules? or do we ALWAYS abide by them. my son already has an attitude about what people think about skaters. and i suppose his little interaction supports what the man thought about my son. i'll be calling sports plus. i mean, why not build a skate park? kids are gonna skate so make a place for them to do it. i'll sign whatever waiver they want me to sign. the funny thing is that we've already signed a waiver just for him to play basketball there. i'm proud he spoke his mind even if it could've gotten him in trouble. (i think!) it's also a funny thing, homeschooling. my kids have a harder time understanding general rules. our lives are our own and there aren't too many situations they are in where there are alot of rules imposed upon them. they are learning that sometimes there are rules to protect them.

things to look forward to....

a visit from one of my dearest buddies....sharon

changing the clocks two weeks early

coming out of the dark

warm weather

the tanning bed (i know vain and probably really bad for my skin....but i HATE getting burnt on family vacation)

summer and all that it brings.....no school, no sports, the pool, camping trips, and just hanging loose in general.

ooooo.....i can smell spring already.

see, i told you i could keep you occupied for awhile......

don't worry

i won't go on and on and on about my trip. i mean i'll try really hard not to. i mean it wasn't THAT great. not really worthy of devoting an entire post to it. i mean the sun wasn't that bright. the house wasn't that close to the ocean. i didn't really enjoy watching the sun setting over the sea every night and being amazed at the stars that completely covered the sky. listening to the waves crashing in got even a bit too mesmerizing. no..don't worry, i won't carry on.......

things that go through my mind

in the span of about two minutes these are the musings....

i love paint. paint makes me happy. it's like God in a can. i'm glad God made paint. every winter i paint a few walls. hmmm i wonder if the bible is true? and about those gnostic gospels. what of them. i want to read them. i think mary magdelene did have a big part in Jesus's life. what part? was she a disciple? did she have writings? did Jesus like her more? hmmm i hope my kids turn out okay. will they like me when they're adults or will they have issues about every little thing i did wrong? i sometimes really suck at being a parent. i yell, i scream, i rant, i rave. then i say i'm sorry. this seems to be the pattern. do i really have control of who they become? do they have a pre-set mission in life? does it matter what kind of parent i am? does it matter what kind of parent other people think i am? after 5 kids why don't i have it figured out? do i care what other people think?hmmm sometimes. i can't wait to go away for a few days. i want to sit on the beach all day for 3 days and sleep in every day and do whatever i want. is that selfish? do i deserve it? no, does anyone really deserve anything? should i have gone on a mission trip or something selfless instead? would that be more meaningful? hmmm i love my friends. i'm really glad i have them. i wish i had more time to hang out with them. they are really cool. hmmm i miss my husband. we have lots of distractions in our life. how does one REALLY simplify? how do you do that with 5 little people who have lots of stuff? should i live at the farm this summer? will it drive aidan crazy to be out there? away from friends? the computer? the tv. or will it be really good? hmmm i really LOVE paint.
